I was 17 when I started shooting heroin im now 29 Ive always said that it was the love of my life. I miss it every single day. But I know if I want to keep living a life thats free that I can never go back to it. Its been about 3 years since Ive picked up a needle. The love I had to let go. A toxic love. A fake love. A love worth hating. One foot in front of the other I will continue trying to not look back. I love this song.

Just true. Clean since 1991. but still an addict. I did cocain and some mescaline as well, but nothing came close to H. If it weren´t for the criminal records and the turkey from not having it, I´d probably not around anymore. when I was a user, I was really into it, everyday could have been the last. after doing time I changed the continent, built a family with two wonderful daughters. who are well informed about what daddy did. the junkie within is still in here, but I can cope without drugs. It´s less exciting at times, but I rather stay around a bit more. Nevertheless, no regrets

I thank the Lord I never got sucked into trying heroin. I struggled so hard just to give up bloody cigarettes, I know that I would never have been able to kick smack once I had tried it.

First heard this when I was ~12 and my dad played rock and roll animal for me Heroin was never my jam - I'm an alcoholic by trade and training (sober by the grace of god) - but I think before I ever used anything (and even now 7 years sober) I always identified with the fear, subtle anger, unrest, depression, anxiety, and disillusionment they capture so remarkably with this song. So sad that so many of us turn to drugs and alcohol bc there's no way out A true work of art - in my opinion one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
